Quick Update – Awards

Earlier this week, I was inducted into the National Quill and Scroll Honor Society for journalism.

Yesterday, I began a multimedia internship at The Three Village Herald. I’ll be producing my first video this weekend.

Today, I found out that I was named a Communications Fellow at Elon University.

It’s been an eventful week!

I attended the JEA/NSPA High School Journalism Convention in Washington D.C. While there, I participated in a write-off competition where I and a partner had to create a 90 second news package about Diversity in under four hours. The video won a Superior award, which was the highest award given and was only won by one other team in the category and 15% of all write-off entrants.

While there, my friend Jordan and I also created this video that was screened during the opening ceremonies.

The award-winning video created for the News Package competition.

I was featured in Newsday as a Long Island Scholar Artist. This award is only given to 20 high school seniors each year and I was the only winner this year for video production. I had my picture taken and a profile featured in an October issue of Newsday and will be attending an awards ceremony  in the Spring.

The profile is also featured online here.

A video that I shot and edited for the band O.A.R.’s video contest. The goal was to feature clips of my town set to their single “This Town.” Out of all the entries, my video came in second place.
